Claudia Williams is a native of Charlotte County, Virginia and a graduate of Randolph-Henry Senior High School. She continued her education at Virginia State University where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and a Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration in special education. Additionally, she has matriculated at Virginia Union University, Virginia Commonwealth University and James Madison University.

Ms. Williams has an extensive background working with individuals with learning disabilities and has dedicated her life to assisting incarcerated students achieve their educational goals. She began her career in music education and transitioned into special education which allowed her to teach on the middle and high school levels and in the alternative school setting.

She has five years teaching experience with the Department of Juvenile Justice, providing special education services to students at Beaumont Juvenile Correctional Center and Hanover Juvenile Correctional Center. She has taught for over ten years with the Department of Corrections at Deep Meadow Correctional Center. There she facilitates the Adult Basic Education, ESOL, and the GED programs.

In addition, she has volunteered at the Chesterfield County Jail through the agency OAR (Offender Aid Restoration) facilitating a program called “Think About It”. She has served as a homebound instructor with Chesterfield County Public Schools. She sits on the executive board of the Charlotte High Alumni Association, a non-profit organization aimed at providing book scholarships to students from Charlotte County, Virginia. She is also an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Virginia Association of Adults in Continuing Education, ProLiteracy, and various civic organizations.
